Recognizing talent today can be associated with an interest in a variety of music. The uniqueness of an artist to make versatile music can differentiate them from the typical troop, making him a star.
The multi-instrumentalist music duo “Brasstracks” are stars in the making. The doublet that comprises Ivan Jackson and Conor Rayne is a contemporary American R&B and Hip-Hop duo. The singers are signed to Capitol Records / EQT Recordings since 2019 and hail from Brooklyn, New York. After scoring the major record signing, the duo has released a couple of singles, an EP “Before We Go,” and their most recent album “Golden Ticket,” featured in 2020.

Brasstacks’ Musical Journey

The unprecedented duo that knows its way around so many musical instruments, including; trumpets and African drums, started their journey back in 2014 at Manhattan School of Music. Ivan Jackson, originally from Manhattan, was a trumpet player, whereas Conor was a drummer. They released their first-ever EP, “Good Love,” back in 2016 that included collaborations with artists like; Masego, Jay Prince, and Roses Gabor.

In 2017, the musical duo won was nominated three times in the Grammy Awards. They emerged winners in two categories. Their work on the single “No Problem” performed by Chance the Rapper featuring Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz was awarded Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song. This encouraged them to make more music.Later on the same year, they released their second EP, “For those who know Pt 1,” which was followed up by Pt 2 in the year 2018.

Fast forward to the year 2019, Brasstracks was signed under Capitol Records music label. Under which they immediately released their EP “Before We Go” in February. Featuring live versions from Capitol studios released later in August. For the next year that followed, 2020, the duo released their second album. “Golden Ticket,” comprising sixteen tracks and featured prominent artists like; Common, Samm Henshaw, Jackson Lundy, Masego, and Jarreau Vandal. This album was a whole success story for the group in 2020. They went on to portray their happiness on their Instagram page upon achieving 14.6 million streams on Spotify.

The skills and flair held by the pair are not yet unmatched. Their uniqueness of combining trumpets in their music continues to set them apart from other music duos that exist.
